I am sure it will come as no surprise that the most overheard thing in our office this week had to do with masks! First, it was the news that West Lafayette was going to be requiring them for anybody going into businesses. Before I had the opportunity to hassle my good friend Dr. Mattern on the west side, the whole state shifted into Mask Up mode starting Monday!
Here is our policy:
*Pursuant to Indiana State Mandate, beginning Monday July 27th, 2020, we will be requiring that all individuals over the age of 8 wear a mask when entering our office. If you do not have one, no problem, we have one you can use, just ask at the front desk.
If you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, call the office (765-448-6489) when you arrive, give us your cell number, and we will call you when a treatment room is open and we can get you directly in.*
So, what does this have to do with dating? Earlier this week, I saw R. He and his wife have been patients in our office for a number of years, and I always enjoy seeing them. One of the reasons I really enjoy seeing R is that he has a "future focused, can do attitude". He owns a business and, like a lot of us, he has had his fair share of uncertainties to deal with since March. However, each time I see him, he has a grateful outlook and is always looking to move forward and keep his crews busy.
This week was no different. After working on ironing out the tight spots in his back, we chatted for a few minutes and then, as he was getting ready to leave, I lowered my mask (from a safe distance of course) and said, "This is what I look like, don't forget." To which he replied, "It's a good thing we aren't dating!"
That joke made my whole day! To be honest, I have seen (and personally felt) the whole range of emotions in the office that are swirling around in the nation right now. But, my visit with R helped me remember that people are still people, mask or no mask, and in the midst of all the craziness going on right now, that is something worth hanging on to. And hey, Dr. Sue is still willing to date me!
May God bless you as you head out into your week!
